Haraki is not as peaceful as it is described from the travel agencies that operate in the area. Haraki is not a
fisherman's place anymore. It has 10 bars and 15 restaurants. Haraki does not have a lot of rooms to accommodate
many tourists. The rooms must be around 300 hundred which means that they can accommodate more than 600
people.
There is not noise in haraki it's just low music and people talking maybe till 6 o'clock in the morning. People that
like to go to for holidays to a place without having drunk people running around naked or without any fights or to be
offered personalised service then haraki is the ideal place. People that want to spend their holidays in a room
listening to crickets then they can book with us in Agathi Studios.

haraki offers in most of the places is really good. Remember this "avoid restaurants where no Greeks go or Greeks
go rarely" it means that these restaurants don't worth it. Cheating the taste with lots of herbs does not make the
restaurant good.
Haraki is the ideal place to spend your holidays with lots of drinks good quality food, friendly people and a smile on
the face. The only place that somebody can find total peace is Agathi studios that are further up of Alia. Alia studios
offer total peace in may and October. All the other months Joy pool bar is lively, in fact July and August is the liveliest
and friendliest place in haraki.
Prices in haraki
The prices in haraki are quite cheap comparing with the rest of the island. The drinks cost 3-4 euros and beers cost
around 2.50 for a mythos for instance. If you see somewhere cheaper prices than those then rethink of buying
anything from that place. All you need to know is that "you get what you pay, nothing more".
Why Haraki?
I could say for somebody who doesn't know anything about Haraki then it's a fair question. Although not for the people
that they know Haraki that they wouldn't ask anyway.
Haraki is a paradise as you can also see in the photos underneath. Haraki is in the middle of Rhodes island and has
everything you want to do during your holidays. The local people usually are very friendly and they will help you with
anything you need.
Do you like drinking? Then Joy can offer you any cocktail you want. Do you want to eat a snack then joy can offer you a
very tasteful snack. Do you want a hot meal? Except Tuesday that we have our greek bonfire night, sunday that we
have our famous BBQ and thursday that we have our Greek traditional food made by grandma. Just across the street
there is a beautiful italian restaurant called Luciano's e' Davinde. For excellent evening meals try Capetanios, for a
posh meal, fresh fish and marvelous wine try Argo restaurant. For burgers, tuna salad end English breakfast try the
pool bar.
Do you want a clean swimming pool 20 seconds away? Then joy is the answer again! Do you have back pains or
simply want to enjoy a cocktail in the jacuzzi then joy is the answer.
Do you want to go down the sea then get up on your feet walk for approx. 2 minutes and there you are.
Haraki is a combination between the local village culture and tourist culture. People from all over Europe seem to
have found their lovely place to spend their yearly holidays.

Haraki has two different sides the quiet during the off-peak months and the lively one during the peak months. The
truth is that the seafront is noisy during the season.
If you want a more quiet place where you can hear the noise of the crickets and the person 10 meters away from you
breathing then we will arrange for you a room in Agathi studios which are a bit further away from Alia studios.

The historical castle FARAKLOS is built on top of a hill 150 m. High with a periphery of the base 0f 1100m.
And on the top of 400m. Inside the castle there is a reservoir for water which has a width of 12 m for houses
and stores. Also,there are secret ways underneath the castle which drive in the sea,probably have been
used from the locals when they were under the sovereignty of foreign forces. These archaeological
monuments give the inference that Alia ,original name of Haraki, was an old acropolis of Rhodes before the
fortress of the byzantine to be made.
Today,only one gate,the perimetrical walls which are 2 m thick, and some destroyed turrets have been left.
The castle was occupied, for the first time,on 30th September 1306 by the knights of the battalion of St. John
of Jerusalem whose commander was the Great Magistrate Folco de la Villaret. Since then, the knights kept
the most important hostages and Arab and Turkish merchants who were caught by them during their raid in
eastern Mediterranean in the castle. The hostages were released after they had paid a large sum of ransom.
In 1445 the castle was besieged by Muhammad the 2nd unsuccesfully.In 1522,Suleiman the Great
besieged the town of Rhodes with 300 ships due to his volition to stop the piracy. When he head that the
Turkish prince Murat, who was claiming the throne from him,was living in FARAKLOS he besieged it with
army and navy. After many hard fights the castle surrendered on 3rd January 1523, 8 days after the surrender
of the town of Rhodes. Then the invaders ravaged the place,slaughtered knights and villagers and hung
Murat and his family. Since then the castle has been deserted. The surrounding settlements
ALIA,ZINOTOU,KAMINARI were ruined and disappeared and only MALONA exists today.
In the ancient times the settlement ALIA was where HARAKI is today. They have found various graves of the
Mycenaean era,broken columns and a flat marble with names of priests of Poseidon(Neptune) Ippios
written on it,another one devoted to a man called Agonas and his wife Isiada and a third one devoted to the
God Dionysos(Vachus) which ,unfortunately has been destroyed.
There was a sugar-mill and the port of Loryma which was a big transportation centre in the ancient times
and Medieval ages. It is believed that the place had been inhabited for many years before Christ and a
remarkable civilization had been created.
